Chris has been the Chief Executive of the Human Resources Institute of New Zealand since February 2014, with previous roles as General Manager of the HR function at Christchurch City Council (throughout the earthquake period), New Zealand Post, DHL, Johnson & Johnson UK, Lloyds TSB UK and BAE Systems UK.

In his 30 years in people leadership Chris has been the executive leader of the HR function for eighteen years across a wide variety of sectors including Local Government, Financial Services, IT, Telecommunications, Government Defence, Medical Devices and Logistics. His experience encompasses private, public, local government, state owned enterprises and not for profit. His career has seen him working in the UK, the Middle East, the US, Europe and, since 2005, New Zealand.

His specialties include supporting and advising Executive Leadership teams on all facets of leadership, people, culture and crisis. Chris is experienced in developing and implementing practical, real world strategies which support business and people objectives and leading HR teams and supporting line managers to deliver these operationally. He has a particular passion for developing and sustaining strong workplaces culturally where engaged, happy staff, deliver improved customer service, productivity and overall business results because their heart and mind involvement is “in the job”.
